Chapter 4. Discussion Post of Early Christian and Byzantine

Early Christian:

One of my classmates, John E had posted his interest on catacombs and their impact on early christian civilization and today. I found one of his pictures very interesting, on how the walls of the catacomb actually had human skulls built in. It is fascinating to see how architecture and detail was even taken underground during this time. he influence of faith is obvious during this time, it was a faith worth fighting for.

Natalie had some more interesting views on Early Christian civilization. Her and I both found that the impact of the furniture on today's society is very important. I loved her image of the decorative table, and a more modernized version in a kitchen as a island. You truly don't see the resemblance or connection to an older piece of furniture until you see them side by side.

Byzantine:

Lindsay had some very interesting perspectives on the Byzantine era. She described the Hagia Sophia church, and how important the impact of the structure has been both inside and out. Her and I both agree, it is very impressive, the amount of different materials used and the shape of the structure itself. Floor to ceiling, it is a masterpiece.

Ariana also went into great detail about Hagia Sophia the a church dedicated to the "Wisdom of God" during this era. She had a fun fact that the modern day Hagia Sophia is the third church built on that site. The current structure is used as a museum.
